It was a cold, dark, rainy, …

On yesterday, It was a cold, dark, rainy, and muggy Tuesday morning. Rain clouds filled the sky across Dallas, Texas. I was looking at the clock, and I needed to get out of the house fast so I could get to work on time. Because of the rain, I knew the streets would be wet. So I was making every effort to get out of the house as soon as I could. I got dressed, and ready to go. I made one last check to ensure I had everything I needed before heading out the door. And as I was backing out of my garage, I happened to remember, the staff was promoting “Wear A Cap” day. I think it was to promote putting a cap on bullying – or something like that. Anyway, this thought came to me just as I was trying to make every effort to get to work on time. So why go back for a cap now? Why not just leave it and get on the road? Do I really need a cap today? Then I thought to myself, “It’s cold outside. I might need it later.” So in spite of running a tad behind, I decided to go back inside to get my cap. I rushed back inside. It took all of ten seconds. After this, I’m back in my car, on the road and jumping on the freeway. The roads are wet and slick with rain. I’m driving as carefully as I can, when suddenly I see brake lights ahead of me. It happened so fast, I hardly had 5 seconds to maneuver my vehicle out of the middle lane to the outer lane to avoid hitting the cars in front of me. But as I passed by what initially appeared to be two cars parked in the middle of the freeway, I soon realized these two cars had actually collided in the exact same lane I was driving in. I told you this story to share a brief testimony with you of how God blessed me on yesterday simply by nudging me to go back and get ONE THING – a cap. What cost me ten seconds of my time, set me back just enough to have the five seconds I needed to avoid what could’ve been a really bad accident, or worse. Today, I’m thanking God for the little ONE THINGS He’s done. Is there just one thing you’re thankful for today? – Pastor Mike Reed

Psalm 105:1, O give thanks unto the Lord ; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
