As saints of The Most High God, we can take communion in our own homes whenever we desire. It is a time when we gather to fellowship and remember the sacrifice of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. So you may be asking, What do I need to host communion at-home? Well, here are a few things you will need.
1. When honoring The Lord’s body for communion, we use grape juice to typify the blood of the Jesus.
2. We use crackers (non-salted) to represent the body of The Lord.
3. The word of God. Because there are serious consequences for not discerning The Lord’s body, before we take communion, it is important that we position our hearts and minds to appreciate Jesus’ sacrifice for us. And so we encourage you to read and recite 1 Corinthians 11:23-34 prior to taking communion.
4. Prayer. A simple prayer. Heavenly Father, I thank You for sending Jesus to give his life on the cross for me. Because of his sacrifice, I have fellowship with You through Christ Jesus. And so by faith, I take this communion, receiving in me, all the blessings and benefits of the blood of Jesus and the bread of life today. And for these things I give you all the praise, glory and honor in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
